Providing Access to Quality Free & Low-Cost Counselling Services through our Practicum Students, Interns and Licensed Counsellors (RTC/RPC) at Pacific Life Bible College in Surrey, BC, Canada.

Services

Are you looking for counselling as an individual, couple or family?

We offer these options both virtually (video & telephone) as well as in-person at our Surrey Campus (15030 66a Ave). (Note: Some students will be offering in-person services at their Practicum sites throughout the city, as indicated in their individual bios.)

FREE counselling will be offered by a new cohort of Practicum student counsellors every year from May to August, with some who will continue beyond August into the fall term as Intern student counsellors

Throughout the year, we also offer low-cost counselling services through Advanced Interns (graduates of our Associate of Arts or Diploma Counselling degree, who have completed 50 additional counselling hours under approved supervision) at a suggested rate of $20 per hour (negotiable based on need).

All of our Student Counsellors will be receiving regular supervision through professors at Pacific Life Bible College, who are experienced licensed RCC or CCC therapists with Masters degrees (through BCACC or CCPA).

*If you are interested in being connected to one of our graduates who are licensed Clinical Counsellors in B.C. through ACCT or CPCA at a suggested rate of $50 per hour (RTCc or RPCc) or $100 per hour (RTC or RPC), feel free to make an inquiry of your needs through us and we will make an introduction.

**If you require a Masters Degree level licensed therapist (i.e. RCC or CCC) for coverage under your extended health insurance plan, please refer to the “Referrals” page for a list of trusted clinics & therapists throughout the city. (Typical rates range from $150-$175 per 50-minute session)

Sally T., AA, Advanced Intern

I strive to provide clients with a safe and secure environment in which they can express themselves freely without fear of judgement.  I have a particular interest in encouraging clients to become aware of their personal strengths and resources, as I strongly believe in the inherent worth of every human being.

I am interested in supporting teens, adults, and seniors in their journey of acceptance and change.

I draw from Emotionally Focused Individual and Adlerian Modalities with a framework of Person Centered Therapy.  I believe that each person needs to be understood through a systemic lens in which their relationships and experiences inform their view of self, others and the world.

I have a love for animals and appreciate their therapeutic value. I have worked with all kinds including raccoons, squirrels, parrots, cats and dogs. In my free time, I enjoy going for nature walks and playing cards.

Madelaine D., BA, Intern

I believe the goal of counselling is to create a safe space to explore struggles, pains and curiosities of one’s inner world. It is not designed for advice-giving, but rather an experiential resource of personal connection with another human being.

The counselling I offer will be rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I also incorporate a Person-Centered framework, meaning that I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives and my job is to be present with genuinenessempathy and
unconditional positive regard.

My areas of expertise are depressionanxietychronic illnessauto-immune diseasestress and grief. I love to work with students, children, teens, and young adults.

“I would like to invite you to journey this path of learning alongside me.”  Reach out to me for a 15-minute consultation, a first session, or with any further inquiries at madelaineanne.cns@gmail.com

Tayja B., AA, Intern

Hello! My name is Tayja, and I am a graduate of the Counselling Associate of Arts program, continuing as an Intern counsellor while completing my BA.

I am offering free counselling sessions for youth (ages 13-18) in Langley, BC, or Virtually.

As I experienced life as a youth, I know how hard that stage in life is with expectations, pressures, confusion, grief and pain. I acknowledge that teenagers have struggles just as important as adults do. Therefore, I have a big heart for the youth in many different communities as I believe it is a crucial stage to growth and identity.

While my style of counselling is relaxed, relational & non-judgmental, I provide counselling to youth with any types of issues and concerns.

I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy mixed with Emotional-Focused Therapy as well. My goal in sessions is to help clients acknowledge and process their issues at hand, and also collaboratively find goals and tools to help them manage their issues. My clients should expect an authentic and safe place for them to process, learn and grow within their issues and as a person. I make sure that my clinets are not being overtaken by my lead, but I let them lead while I guide the conversations.

Email me if you are interested and spread the word if you know teens who would be interested!

Daniel S., Practicum

Hello, I’m Daniel, and I believe everyone has a gift and a purpose. My goal is to help those who feel stuck by building on their strengths and helping them to focus on the present moment.

My approach to counselling includes a mix of both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I believe the best way to deal with problems is by changing the language and thoughts that hold us back from reaching our potential. I also believe everyone has a ‘Value System’ that is the driving force of how we act, talk, think and feel. Our values define who we are.

My goal is to help adolescents and young adults identify their roadblocks and triggers, while also helping them find their calling by drawing their focus towards their strengths and passions. Think of me as a tour guide, only we’re both discovering who you are together.

I will be completing my hours primarily through Wagner Hills; however,  if you would like to inquire about private Virtual counselling sessions with me, please reach out to the practicum coordinators at counselling@pacificlife.edu

Zena M., Practicum

Hi, I’m Zenabwa Murtonen, a counselling practicum student with a heart for walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s challenges, offering Virtual counselling services this summer.

I’m currently completing my bachelor’s in counselling and gaining hands-on experience supporting people facing anxiety, low self-worth, grief, identity struggles, and adoption-related experiences.

My approach is client-centered, grounded in empathy, trust, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story. I draw from cognitive-behavioural and person-centered approaches, creating space for clients who want to explore their journey from any spiritual or personal perspective.

I believe healing happens in safe, caring relationships. My goal is to create that kind of space for you—where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered toward growth.

If you’d like to connect or learn more about setting up Virtual sessions with me, feel free to reach out: zenabwa@icloud.com

Isha A., Practicum

Hi, I’m Isha, and I’m a practicum student currently completing my graduate studies in Christian Counselling. I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and love to soak up the sun, or make music on my free time. I believe that healthy mental health is what makes us strong in adversity, but it takes a strong person to be vulnerable!

My approach to counselling is person-centered, meaning I believe in creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported as you work through what matters most to you.

My goal is to partner with as you explore your emotions, navigate challenges, and work toward meaningful personal goals. I believe that healing happens in relationships built on trust, and I’m here to support you with openness and compassion as you move through your unique journey.

I will be completing my hours primarily through Nightshift Ministries; however, if you would like to inquire about private counselling sessions with me at our Surrey office or virtually, please reach out to the practicum coordinators at counselling@pacificlife.edu

Amber C., Practicum

I am a Counselling Student with Pacific Life Bible College, and I strive to provide a safe and brave space to equip and encourage clients through self- directed growth and personal development.

Some areas of experience include anxiety & depression, stress, identity, physical and mental illness.

I primarily work with youth and young adults, but I do have experience, and enjoy working with all age groups.

I use an integration of models between Person Centered Therapy, Emotionally- Focused Therapy, and draw from techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, cooking, and playing board games! I would love to walk with and partner with you through the journey of healing and help!

Richard L., Practicum

Hello, I’m Richard, and as a counsellor, my aim is to create a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings and life experiences at your own pace.

I strongly believe that everyone has the potential for growth and healing, and my role is to support you in recognizing your strengths, building self-worth, and helping you navigate your unique path toward healing.

I use a combination of various counselling models, however,
foundationally I practice person-centered therapy (PCT), a humanistic approach focused on meeting individuals in the fullness of their struggles, confusion, crises, and experience, then
coming alongside them and partnering with them.

Together we can work towards healing,
empowerment, and consistent living that is in alignment with your personal goals and values.

If you have any more questions regarding my practice, you can reach me via the email provided below. I’m looking forward to getting to know you.

In Case of an Emergency

The therapeutic counselling relationship is not the same thing as a Crisis/Emergency service; however, when you or someone you know is in a crisis, we absolutely want to ensure you know where you can call or go for help (besides 9-1-1 or the nearest Hospital Emergency Room).

for Crisis Services:

for emotional support and mental health resources.

If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm,
connect to the Suicide Hotline call 988.

For Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Information & Support,
as well as Treatment Referral Services call 1- 800 – 663 – 1441

If you know of any child, adult, or elderly person who is suffering from abuse or neglect, contact Family Services at contactus@fsgv.ca or call 604 – 731 – 4951

For children in need of emotional support or who are or may be suffering from abuse or neglect, safely connect them to Kids Help Phone 1 – 800 – 668 – 6868
